ROMANIA: Rompetrol makes every effort to maintain its high attractiveness on the labor market

Share

Rompetrol remains one of the largest and most attractive employers in Romania’s industrial sector, given that the external environment has not been favorable for it in recent years, and that the increase in taxes has affected the company, Rompetrol representatives claim in a press release transmitted Thursday.

“From 2022, Rompetrol operates in an environment with very high taxes: the company paid 159 million dollars as solidarity tax in 2022 and 2023, and another 30 million dollars are additional taxes estimated in 2024 based on the new turnover tax, with an increase in the following years. Despite the growing tax burden, the company is making every effort to maintain its high attractiveness on the labor market”, the statement states.

Rompetrol achieved a net salary increase in 2022 of 1,500 lei per person, which resulted in a total of additional support of 35 million dollars for employees’ families and generated a 30% increase in employee incomes. This aid contributed to reducing the effects of high inflation on the employees’ family budgets and even exceeded the inflation forecasts for 2024 by another 5%, Rompetrol representatives report.

According to the quoted source, a process is currently underway to review Rompetrol’s offer for its employees, the company’s most important asset, “the company is working closely with all interested parties to balance the offer for its employees with the environment of high taxes”.
