Competition is intensifying: PPC lowers the price of electricity offered to the population after July 1

PPC Energie, one of the largest electricity suppliers to the population, has launched a competitive offer with a significantly lower price. Anyone can request it.

PPC launched today a new standard offer for the supply of electricity, called PPC Energie Verde, with applicability from July 1, according to data from ANRE’s offer comparator. The price of active energy is now only 0.78 lei/kWh, to which network tariffs and taxes are added, so the final prices on invoices for those who access this offer are now between 1.42 and 1.51 lei/kWh, depending on the area in which the place of consumption is located.

This offer is significantly better than the previous one from PPC, which had an active energy price of 0.88 lei/kWh, which meant a final invoiced price, for the Bucharest area, for example, of 1.55 lei/kWh.

As can be seen, now, in this offer, PPC offers customers in the Bucharest area a price of only 1.42 lei/kWh, so 13 bani/kWh lower than the previous offer. It should also be said that the energy in this offer comes from 100% renewable sources, i.e. hydro, wind and photovoltaic, as the company says. The price is fixed for one year.

We remind you that June 30 is the last day when the final capped prices for electricity for households are still applied, which are, depending on consumption, 0.68, 0.80 and 1.3 lei/kWh. After this date, customers will pay the prices from the contract concluded in the past, or from the current offers, if the contractual period expires. Of course, each customer can change their supplier, a process that is free of charge and takes a maximum of 21 days.
Competition is intensifying

This latest offer shows that, given that in a few days there will be no more price caps, competition between suppliers is starting to intensify in order to retain their customers or, why not, to attract new ones.

I wrote yesterday that, in the context in which the market will be liberalized from July 1st, and many of the customers of large suppliers tend to migrate to other suppliers, especially to Hidroelectrica where the price is much lower, special offers are starting to appear from large suppliers, addressed precisely to these customers, in an attempt to retain them.

I came into possession of a retention offer made by PPC, one of the largest suppliers of the population in the country, to a customer who wanted to change his supplier and wanted to switch to Hidroelectrica, in this case.

In an attempt to keep him, PPC made this customer an offer with an active energy price of only 0.585 lei/kWh, so much below the price in the new commercial conditions that are valid from July 1, which at PPC is 0.88 lei/kWh.

In fact, this price is close to that of Hidroelectrica now, which is 0.45 lei/kWh, the lowest on the market, which is also the reason why over 10,000 customers want to move to Hidroelectrica every day.

For our customer, to whom PPC made this offer, the final price on the invoice, with all tariffs and taxes, is 1.19 lei/kWh, the place of consumption being in Bucharest. At Hidroelectrica, the final price on the invoice for household customers in Bucharest is, according to the current offer, 1.04 lei/kWh.
