A company controlled by the Austrians from LSG, the ones who installed the first battery in Romania that regulates the grid, has obtained the construction permit for a new storage facility, of 42.5 MW, next to a photovoltaic park.
“Establishment permit requested by the company LJG GREEN SOURCE ENERGY GAMMA SRL for the construction of the new energy capacity Electricity storage facility – IS Izvoarele 2”.
This is one of the decisions adopted by the Energy Regulatory Authority in the last meeting of the Regulatory Committee this week.
According to our data, the permit is granted for a battery with a power of 42.5 MW located in the commune of Izvoarele, Giurgiu County. It will be added to a photovoltaic park, the Izvoarele 2 photovoltaic power plant, of 42.5 MW
When ANRE issues the establishment authorization, the project developer must prove that it has the financing for the construction of the energy capacity, so this project will most likely be one of those that will be completed.
The company is part of the LSG group of companies from Austria, which are the pioneers of storage in Romania. Thus, through the company megalodon Storage, LSG put into operation, in 2023, the 7 MW storage facility in Căciulați, Moara Vlăsiei commune, Ilfov county. It was the first storage facility qualified to provide balancing services and can operate in secondary frequency-power regulation, with automatic control from the National Energy Dispatcher, Transelectrica reported at the time.
According to the latest data from Transelectrica, currently the installed power in batteries in Romania is 494 MW, corresponding to a capacity of 913 MWh.
